WORDS FROM THE PRESIDENT
Paul W. Fraysure, Jr., D.M.D.
Dear Colleague:
Since our last newsletter a lot has occurred. Thanks to the diligent work of Dr. Bill Argo, the year 2000 ended on an upbeat with an outstanding legislative reception. The turnout by our legislators was the best it has been in several years. Likewise, a large contingency of our dental colleagues did their part by turning out to show strong support for our legislators. However, as we enter into the new millennium, we can't stop now.
All of our delegates and alternate delegates attended the winter meeting of the GDA House of Delegates, unlike other districts. The following day, the Georgia Legislature opened with the realization that several pieces of legislation relevant to organized dentistry would probably be introduced this session. For that reason it is imperative that when you are contacted about attending GDA Law Day on February 27th that you agree to invest a half of a day of your time to attend. We need as many dentists as we can get to turn out to represent the Central District at the Capitol in Atlanta.
On January 19 we treated our spouses to a magical evening with magician Mike Fuller at the Robins AFB Museum of Aviation. Despite the inclement weather, the 2nd Annual CDDS Spouses Social was a great success and provided a wonderful evening of entertainment for those who attended. What a great way to lead into the Presidential Inauguration weekend.
Remember, February is National Childrens Dental Health Month. If your office sponsors any activities, visits any schools, or does anything related to childrens dental health, please report it to Dr. Shirley Fisher, chairperson of the Council on Dental Health committee. Please call her with your information by March 7th. Office 929-0296 fax 328-7681 email: SHFFISH@aol.com.
Don't forget to make your reservations now for the Spring Tri-district dental meeting at the King and Prince Beach Resort on St. Simons Island, May 18-20. Rooms are going fast! CALL - 912-638-3631
Finally, for those who haven't heard yet, the GDA is honored to have one of its own, Dr. T. Howard Jones, campaigning for the office of President-elect of the American Dental Association. For anyone interested in contributing to Howards election campaign, please contact Dr. Ty Ivey.
Sincerely,
Paul
