Dear Colleague:
By the time you receive this newsletter, the ADA annual meeting in Chicago will have concluded and once again Ty Ivey and Jim Hall, our ADA delegates, will have represented us well. Thanks Ty and Jim for all you do for the Central District and organized dentistry.
Likewise, the November elections will be over, and some new faces will be joining old ones in January, 2001 at the State Capitol. Make plans now to meet and talk with your state Senator or Representative at our CDDS Legislative Reception on Tuesday, December 5 at the City Club of Macon. And if you cannot make that night, then make plans to spend half a day at the Capitol in Atlanta on Tuesday, February 27 for LAW Day. Lets have an even bigger turnout this year than we had last year for both events.
I want to thank Drs. Jay Harrington and Kathy Powers for the wonderful job that they did in putting on a great All-Day Dentist/Staff CE Program with Dr. Peter Jacobsen.
Mark off January 19, 2001 on your calendars now for the Winter Spouses Social. Tentatively, we are planning to have it at the Museum of Aviation, but more details will follow in future mailings. We want to recognize our spouses for all the support that they give us with a fun-filled, enjoyable evening.
And lastly, remember to pay your dues promptly so that Dr. Kendrick Mathews, our membership chairman, can direct his efforts at recruiting new members rather than following up on the unpaid balances of existing members. When Kendrick contacts you, please help him by calling a non-member and letting him/her know what organized dentistry is doing for him/her and then invite, or even better, bring him/her to a meeting.
As the year 2000 nears its end, I envision a bigger and better 2001. I look forward to seeing all of you on November 9 and wish for you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving and a safe and joyous Holiday Season.
Sincerely,
Paul
